The P&B Foods development consists of two industrial units, Unit A, a 4,500 m² fully fitted warehouse and distribution facility, and Unit B, a 2,500 m² shell-and-core unit designed for future tenancy. Each building consists of warehouse storage areas, ancillary offices and staff facilities.
BB7 Response
BB7 provided integrated Fire Engineering, Assigned Certifier, Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), and Disability Access Consulting services across the project. Our fire engineers developed tailored strategies for the steel-framed structures, focusing on appropriate levels of structural fire protection and the coordination of passive fire safety measures. We also undertook detailed smoke ventilation calculations for the warehouse spaces, considering various storage and racking configurations to ensure adequate smoke clearance based on different layouts.
Our Assigned Certifier and PSDP teams oversaw statutory compliance and design safety coordination throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring a consistent approach to regulatory assurance. While our Disability Access Consultants worked closely with the design team to integrate accessibility provisions that met both Building Regulations and the client’s operational needs.
Benefits of service
By having an interdisciplinary approach, we were able to provide the client with a coordinated service, reducing design risk and ensuring the project progressed efficiently through certification and approvals. Our detailed analysis of structural protection and smoke ventilation performance optimised the fire safety design for the large warehouses, while our proactive collaboration supported a safe, accessible, and compliant delivery for both units.
