Project overview
The Rubrics is Trinity College Dublin’s oldest surviving building, constructed between 1699 and 1702. Its name comes from the distinctive red brick used in its construction, setting it apart from the predominantly stone buildings on campus. Located in Front Square, it has been a central part of Trinity’s architectural and academic heritage for over 300 years.
Originally built as student accommodation, The Rubrics continues to serve as a residential space for students and staff, blending its historic character with modern functionality. Ongoing restoration efforts focus on preserving its architectural integrity while updating its interiors to meet contemporary needs.
