Project overview
BB7 were appointed as the Assigned Certifier for the development of Tirlán’s new headquarters and collaboration hub in the historic Abbey Quarter, in Kilkenny City. Tirlán, a leading food and nutrition co-operative with an annual revenue exceeding €3 billion, now benefits from a modern, flexible headquarters that has been designed to support its expanding workforce and sustain the company’s growth for years to come.
Project Scope
Designed to accommodate over 300 employees, this commercial development promotes a collaborative and hybrid working environment. The building’s layout encourages cross-functional teamwork and innovation, aligning with the clients’ work culture. Sustainability was also a key priority, with the project achieving Gold Accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The use of eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions echoes Tirlán’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint as outlined in its ‘Living Proof’ sustainability strategy.
The BB7 response
As the Assigned Certifier, our team ensured full compliance with the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR), overseeing the entire certification process from commencement to completion. Our responsibilities included managing the BCMS Commencement Notice submission, developing and executing an Inspection Plan, and conducting site visits at key project milestones. We worked closely with the Design Team to ensure all necessary Ancillary Certificates were provided and coordinated with the contractor to align the construction programme with BCAR requirements.
Benefits of service
The BB7 team’s proactive approach led to seamless coordination between the client, project managers, contractors, and design teams. Through clear communication and diligent oversight, we were able to facilitate a smooth certification process, minimising delays and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
