The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, situated in the northern inner city of Dublin, is a level 4 teaching hospital. Established in 1861 by the Sisters of Mercy, it offers local services for the surrounding catchment area. Additionally, the Mater Hospital delivers a diverse array of frontline and specialist services at both regional and national levels.
BB7 Response
BB7 were appointed as the Assigned Certifier for an extension to the hospital for the construction of two new Ophthalmology Theatres and all associated support rooms and offices as part of a Covid-19 project. In addition, they also acted in the same capacity for the construction of a new Observation Ward, including all toilet facilities, nurses’ stations and storage rooms. The projects completed in the March and July of 2021, respectively.
Benefits of service
The project required periodic meetings with the client’s representatives and the Builder. In addition, there was liaison with Dublin City Council’s Building Control Department to ensure successful BCAR submission upon completion. Good communication with the client throughout the project ensured a smooth delivery. This was imperative due to the tight deadlines throughout the project timeline.
